Leadership and the INEX Difference
Joe Lyon
Meet Joe Lyon
Founder and CEO
Growing up in Colorado, Joe has been around for all of the major changes we’ve seen in our community. This and a few other life journies led Joe down the path of working in the skilled trades. Joe would describe himself in 5 adjectives: innovator, trailblazer, pioneer, problem solver, & competitive.
When speaking with Joe, what one realizes is that all of those traits create one thing: an entrepreneurial spirit that just emanates from his core. When interviewing Joe for this piece, here is what he had to say about himself:
“I’ve always known that I would eventually own a business. I’m built to be an entrepreneur — the process of going from an idea / vision to building it out to benefit others energizes me. I’m a problem-solver — my brain is one that quickly sees solutions and ways to move forward. I like putting into practice my own values and philosophy: I treat people the way that I want to be treated, as an equal, and with loyalty, integrity, transparency, and trust.“
Early in his career Joe became invested in the window and door industry. In fact, at one stage in his career, Joe was one of the top Marvin installers in all of Denver. After that, Joe has gone on to own several more business ranging from construction companies, solar companies and he even was a partner in a cannabis startup at one time.
Joe greatest accomplishment to date are INEX Doors and Living Spaces and his general contracting company, Constructify. Joe started Constructify (Construct-It-For-You) almost 20 years ago with one primary goal: creating the best subcontracting/general contracting and install company in Denver! Joe had seen and heard of a major problem going on in the market at the time: NO ONE had quality subcontractors that they could trust to serve their customers. Yes many crews did work, but were they really treating their clients like they should be?
Around this time in his life Joe had met former retired Denver Broncos Wide Receiver, Rod Smith. Rod Smith told him “Identify a problem, develop the solution, and create a business around that and you will never have money issues again.” Well, that jump started Joe into starting Constructify.
Over the many years of operating Constructify, Joe started seeing many other issues, specifically in high-end, luxury windows and doors. He noticed that many of these products had major issues when it came to installation due to how the product was designed. “See in construction, nothing is ever perfectly square or plumb. When you install a door or window correctly, it typically takes some customization to make the final product come out right” said Joe.
He knew that one of the best ways to fix these underperforming products was to design them better from the start. And that is how INEX came to be. If Joe and his team could produce a product that can perform well in all climates and elevations, as well in all different types of construction while helping both the installation crews and the homeowners and property owners alike, that’s what he was going to do.
This sent Joe out on a quest to find the top-of-line products and manufacturers from around the world. Joe searched everywhere from South East Asia, Central America/Mexico, the United States and many countries in Europe (Greece, Germany, the Netherlands and Italy to name a few). These trips and investigations led to the lineup of products that INEX Doors and Living Spaces offers today.
Joe is always studying and searching for the next best innovation to solve the newest problem or need of his customers. You’ll never know what’s coming next from Joe and his team at INEX.
But be certain that it will be an innovative, precisely crafted, elegant product.
